he camera specifications for Xiaomi’s eagerly awaited flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Pro, have surfaced through a leak on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. Like its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, this impressive device will feature three 50MP cameras on its rear. The primary sensor will be the OV50K, while the 3x telephoto lens will use IMX882 technology.
The OV50K boasts a 1-inch sensor, whereas the Xiaomi 14 Pro is equipped with a slightly smaller 1/1.31-inch sensor. While details on the OV50K are limited, it is known that a smaller version, the OV50K40, incorporates lateral overflow integration capacitors (LOFIC) to deliver exceptional single-exposure high dynamic range (HDR) performance in all lighting conditions, according to GizmoChina. This sensor is claimed to achieve HDR quality comparable to the human eye with a single exposure in standard mode.
The telephoto sensor on the Xiaomi 14 Pro reportedly has lower clarity in digital zoom compared to the OV64b, but it is noted for its excellent power efficiency. The device will use a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor for its 3.2x telephoto lens, which is an upgrade over its predecessor. The aperture of the telephoto lens will also be a significant improvement.
Rumors indicate that the Xiaomi 15 Pro will feature a square-shaped camera module in the upper left corner, with the flash positioned outside the camera island, possibly due to space constraints. There may also be enhancements to the lenses in front of the sensors.
The phone is expected to have a 2K micro-curved screen and be launched around mid-October, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. While information on the Xiaomi 15 series is currently limited, we will provide more updates as they become available.
