Students celebrating end of exams in Greece died in ‘separate incidents’ – as classmates are left ‘absolutely traumatised’

Greek police are investigating the deaths of two Irish youngsters who had been celebrating the tip of their faculty exams on the island of Ios.

The our bodies of Andrew O’Donnell and Max Wall, each 18, had been found on Sunday, and it’s believed that the youngsters died in separate incidents.

Andrew O’Donnell went lacking after an evening out on Friday, and his physique was discovered on rocky floor early on Sunday morning. It’s thought he could have suffered accidents in step with a fall.

Individually, Max Wall was discovered unconscious within the port space on Sunday afternoon.

Put up-mortem examinations are due within the coming days.

Each younger males had been current graduates of St Michael’s Faculty in Dublin.

As much as 100 college students from the college had been on Ios to have fun finishing the end-of-school Leaving Certificates, together with tons of of scholars from different Irish faculties.

On Monday, bouquets of flowers had been being left on the gates of the St Michael’s campus within the Ballsbridge space.

‘Completely devastated’

The college’s principal Tim Kelleher stated the college was « completely devastated, your complete neighborhood is reeling with the information over the past 24 hours », and stated representatives of the father or mother affiliation had flown to the Greek island to help the households.

Mr Kelleher described Andrew as a « improbable younger man, nice sportsman, improbable footballer » who was academically vivid and was trying ahead to his vacation and to attending faculty.

Max, he stated, was « very vivid », « captivated with rugby » and had « the world at his toes ».

« Sadly each households bought the information yesterday that their future had been taken from them and we’re clearly devastated for them, their household and associates, and we’re right here to assist and help in any means we are able to within the subsequent days and weeks, » he informed RTE Radio.

Mr Kelleher stated the group of classmates who had been on vacation with them are « completely traumatised » and are on their means residence.

The Spiritan Training Belief, patrons of St Michael’s Faculty, expressed its condolences to the households of the youngsters.

In a press release, it stated: « Our ideas are with the mother and father and households of those two younger males who at present are struggling immeasurable loss.

« We prolong our deepest sympathy and help to their grieving households, to all of their wider circle of associates and fellow classmates who might be mourning their passing and to the Board of Administration, the college leaders and all our colleagues on the employees of St Michael’s Faculty. »

A spokesperson for Eire’s Division of International Affairs stated it was conscious of each circumstances and is offering consular help, however declined to remark additional.
